About the Intruder
About the Intruder
The Intruder was not only Roger Corman's most daring and unusual film, but a unique movie in the history of cinema, as one of the few theatrical feature films to deal with school desegregation in the South. William Shatner gives the performance of a lifetime as Adam Cramer, a sly, rabble-rousing racist who travels the South in the wake of the Supreme Court's Brown vs. Board of Education decision, fomenting protests and riots and organizing white citizens groups with himself at their head. By turns quietly soft-spoken and boldly charismatic, Cramer arrives in a small town where the local white high school is about to get its first black students and manipulates the men, women, and students around him, quietly taking control of the debate and the agenda, and turning a tense situation into a riot. He's opposed by Frank Maxwell, playing a local newspaper editor who pays a terrible price for his thoughtful and reasonable nature, Jeanne Cooper as a woman whom he tried to seduce, and Leo V. Gordon (in a rare benevolent role) as her husband, a working man without a lot of patience for rabble-rousers. In the end, after maiming one man and nearly killing
another, Cramer is stopped when he is exposed for what he is -- weak and pathetic when confronted directly. The film was shot on-location in the South despite the active opposition of local authorities and threats from members of the Ku Klux Klan, and once finished, Corman discovered that there was hardly a theater anywhere in America that was willing to play it, because the movie's subject was so incendiary. Thus, The Intruder became just about the only movie Corman ever made that lost money, and was much more widely seen in Europe, where it was greeted simply as a bold, unusual, and well-made film. For reasons not entirely clear, The Intruder turned up on various "public domain" lists in the early '80s and showed up on different cable channels specializing in such fare, but it was never actually out-of-copyright, and finally surfaced in an authorized DVD edition in April of 2001. In addition to future television star Shatner, the cast includes the future soap opera star Jeanne Cooper. Charles Beaumont, a regular contributor to The Twilight Zone, among other anthology series, and whose novel was the source for the film, portrays the school principal. William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, best-known as the authors of the novel -Logan's Run, also play small roles.

Bollywood people are not stylish
Actress Kangana Ranaut, who walked for designer Shantanu Goenka at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Monday, says the people in Bollywood are not very stylish except for her contemporaries Priyanaka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor.
"I don't want to hurt anyone with my remarks, but I find that the style quotient is missing in Bollywood except for Priyanka and Sonam who know how to carry well," Kangana told reporters here.
The Kolkata-based designer presented a line inspired by the French queen Marie Barrios.
According to him, Kangana was the perfect muse for this collection.
"I wanted Kangana to look feminine, I didn't want to go overboard and I thought she completely justified the theme," he said.
Dressed in a white and beige gown, she looked confident while sashaying down the ramp.
"I never feel uncomfortable while walking the runway as I have done it in films like 'Fashion' and 'Raaz 2'. So it has become a part of my character," Kangana said.
"Also, I love Shantanu's design and admire his creativity. He always makes something which suits my complexion and figure," she added.
When asked about her future projects, she said: "I am working on the sequel of 'Tanu Weds Manu' and 'Ishqiya'."

Muran Movie Review
Starring: Cheran, Prasanna, Nikita Thukral, Haripriya
Director: Rajan Madhav
Producer: Cheran
Banner: UTV Motion Pictures,Dream Theatre
Music: Saajan Madhav
Muran Story:
Muran is all about the tale of two persons Nandha (Cheran) and Arjun (Prasanna). Nanda (Cheran) is a musician and is married to Indhu (Nikhita). They end up their marital life due to difference of opinion. In an incident Nandha meets Arjun (Prasanna), a rich tycoon who lives life his own way. Arjun loves challenges and thrills.
On fine day, Nandha is forced to take a lift in Arjun’s posh SUV and during their journey they get acquainted. They share their life experiences and decide to help each other for their life. What follows is an interesting and thrilling incident that they come across in their lives forms the crux of the film.
Performance:
As for the main cast, it is three cheers to both Cheran and Prasanna. Prasanna has come out with a striking performance as the mean, diabolic, creepy and psychopathic villain while Cheran is perfect as the soft, urbane musician.
The supporting cast like Nikhita, Hari Priya and Jayaprakash are perfect fit for the characters designed for them.
Technicalities:
Rajjan Madhav’s direction is okay and Muran will be able to attract only thriller genre lovers as the story doesn’t carry various commercial aspects need by the audiences. Cinematography by Padmesh brings a stiff thriller before our eyes and undoubtedly he has done a very good camera work Sajjan Madhav's background score is good and impressive. The director could have added sufficient commercial elements bearing on the fate of the film at the box office. Production values of the film are appropriate.
Analysis:
It was not the case like earlier days that the audiences would watch anything that was shown on the screen. The audiences are looking for various commercial aspects. Muran is an ode to Alfred Hitchcock's films Strangers on a Train and the narration provides more suspense and thrill than the scenes. Perceptive characterizations, apt dialogues and excellent props add energy to the film.
Quick Take: Thrilling Thriller

About the Vedi movie
Film: Vedi
Starring: Vishal, Sameera Reddy, Vivek
Director: Prabhu Deva
Producer: Vikram Krishna
Banner: GK FIlm Corporation
Music: Vijay Anthony
Vedi Story:
The film kick starts with a peppy song featuring Music director Devi Sri Prasad.
The entire first half of the film sees Prabhakaran (Vishal) being chased by the thugs while the second half reveals the flashback of Prabhakaran and his past life which makes audiences to sit on the edge of their seats.
He escapes to Kolkatta and gets admitted to a college. He meets a girl called Deepa (Poonam Kaur). Meanwhile, in a strange event he gets in touch with Aishwarya (Sameera Reddy) and finds a place to reside in her house. After a series of incidents Aishwarya comes to know the other side of Prabhakaran and falls for him. Prabhakaran turns as an unofficial bodyguard for Deepa and here it is revealed that she his sister but couldn’t not tell her the same for some reasons. The get separated when they were kids and as the film progress the flashback gets revealed that the mission Prabhakaran has to complete and he is on an undercover.
Performances:
Vishal sheens all the way and portrayed the role of Vijay very well. The expressions and his angry young man's look are apt. This will sure be another feather in his cap besides the success of Avan Ivan.
Dusky beauty Sameera Reddy as Aishwarya has given a graceful performance, as a bubbly girl in the college who teases the hero and also as a sensitive girl at home. Her glamour is an additional asset to the film.
Poonam Kaur plays the pivotal role of Deepa in this film. She rendered apt delivery within the scope of her characterization.
Vivek displayed hilarious comedy in the college scenes and the rest of the characters performed well in their limit.
Technicalities:
The story of the film is prepared in typical commercial format. Prabhu Deva’s direction is good in parts but the screenplay and narration needs betterment. Prabhu Deva could have added couple of mass situations at regular intervals and the climax of the film is in passé format. The plan used by hero in the second half is interesting. The heroine has nothing to do with the central point of the film.
The songs in the first half are scored well. Thaman’s background music by is good. Cinematography by is adequate. The special attraction is the R. D. Rajasekhar photography, starting from the introduction of the hero to the end of the film. He captured each and every frame slickly. Fights in the film are good and are according to the expectations of the audience in Vishal's action film. Editing by V. T. Vijayan is alright. Production values are good.
Analysis:
First half of the film is slow though there is a sustained interested about the whereabouts of the hero while Interval twist is good. The second half carries the main story. Hero's strategy to counteract villain is entertaining. The positive points of the film are Vishal and action episodes. On the flipside, the second half should have been dealt with an attention-grabbing screenplay. Vedi’s commercial success depends on how the crowds embrace the sister sentiment in the film.
Though a remake of a Telugu movie it is entertaining and enjoyable, for there are smart changes made by Prabhu Deva in the script to suit Tamil audience. However the film ends up as a predictable passé commercial masala.
Quick Take: Superb Sibling Sentiment, Paisa Vasool entertainer
